RANJI'S WONDERFUL BAT
                               - RUSKIN BOND

 * Suraj - Captain of the school team.
* Score stood at 53 for 4 wickets- another 60 runs for victory.
* Ranji - the youngest member of the team- 11 yrs old.
* Ranji's turn to bat...but he was out... The school captain encouraged him but their coach was sterner and asked Ranji to bat well in the next match.
* Near the clock tower- Mr.Kumar's sports shop.
* Mr.Kumar a player himself, has scored a century against Tanzania.
* Ranji said he had not scored well in three matches and if not going to score in the next match he will be out of the school team.
* Then Mr.Kumar picked an old bat and said it was the luckiest bat - the bat with which he made a century.
* Mr.Kumar gave the bat to him.
* Ranji asked Koki,the girl next door of his house to bowl for him.. to get used to the bat.
* On the saturday match, Ranji made first 4 runs followed by 58 runs not out- ranji school team won the match.
* But Ranji lost the bat when he was playing an informal match near his home.
* He informed Mr.Kumar about that.. kumar said he can play the next match even without the bat.
* He also said the Bat did not have any magic only the batsman had it.. the Magic is confidence to play well.
* In the next match Ranji scored 75 runs and it was the talk of the school.
* Ranji was finally happy now.
