PROSE-TRIP TO OOTY

·       The lesson starts as a letter reply to Malli Merlin’s friend. Malli asks Merlin to tell about her trip to Ooty with her friends and teacher.

·       20 girls and boys accompanied by Geetha mam and two others set on a trip to Ooty.

·        Merlin’s Grandmother has said about the Toy Train in Ooty.
Toy train- The Nilgiri Mountain railway was built by the British in  1908. The rail connects Udhagamandalam and Mettupalayam. The train travels through 208 serpentine curves, 16 tunnels, 250 bridges, waterfall hood etc for a distance of 26 km. In 2005, UNESCO declared Nilgiri Mountain Train(Toy Train) as one of the World Heritage Sites, other one is Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.

·       Suddenly the train stopped and everyone from the compartment came out to see what’s the problem..they saw a baby elephant sitting on the track & a mother elephant trumpeting loudly.

·       Muthu, the naughty boy in the class went up to the frightened baby elephant with a bunch of bananas and made it move off the track with its mother.
