GULLIVER'S TRAVELS

SUPP.READER- GULLIVER’S TRAVELS

·       Gulliver- a ship’s doctor started on an voyage, but the ship gets stuck on an violent storm and six of the crew members including Gulliver is thrown off and he alone managed to get on a land.

·       The coast was strange and lonely. As he was hungry he fell into the grass and went to deep sleep.

·       When he woke up, he was unable to move as he was securely tied with slender strings, even his hair which was long and thick was tied down the same way.

·       He saw human beings not 6 inches high moving over his body with bow and arrows. They were called the Lilliputians. He was startled and tried to free himself, but the Lilliputians fired dozens of tiny arrows into his hand, face and body until he remained calm.

·       An important person of Lilliput made a 10 minute speech to Gulliver which he couldn’t understand.

·       Gulliver was offered food by the Lilliputians, he ate three loaves of bread at a time as that was very tiny. He drank two barrels of drinks as it was tinier than a glass.

·       He fell asleep soon after his meals because the Lilliputians had sleeping draught mixed to his drink.

·       The Lilliputians set about transporting Gulliver to the capital using a large platform with 22 wheels pulled by dozens of 4 ½ inches horses.

·       When Gulliver reached the capital, it was like a carnival as 100 thousands of Lilliputians were gathered to see Gulliver. The emperor of Lilliputians received Gulliver and he was lodged in an disused temple.

·       His legs were chained..after few weeks the emperor and the other Lilliputians decided to set free Gulliver as he menant no harm to them.

·       Gulliver freely wandered over Lilliput and helped the people in all ways he could.

·       One day, the neighboring kingdom of Blefuscu declared war on Lilliput. The emperor asked for Gulliver’s help.

·       Gulliver walked into the sea, took a long rope and tied all the hundred ships together and dragged them in the water. He then started to pull the ships round and round until the army of Blefuscu went dizzy.

·       Finally the king of Blefuscu came begging for peace between the two kingdoms. The Emperor agreed.

·       Gulliver was hailed as hero and he lived in Lilliput peacefully for many years.
